Fiorentina’s Vincenzo Montella is a former coach of As.Roma until he was replaced by Luis Enrique and eventually the 39 years Old Italian coach made his way to Fiorentina where the club is now placed in 4th place.
Considering the fact that Montella spent a substantial amount of time with the youth and senior squad of As.Roma, on a number of occasions of he has admitted his affection towards his former club and revealed that even though their position in Serie A is so different, there isn’t so much of a difference when comparing both squads.
“Perhaps the difference between us and Roma in the League is down to our European campaign and the absences we’ve suffered. Maybe their squad is slightly better than ours, but 11 versus 11. I don’t see much difference’’ he told brazil mexico odds.
“I don’t know why I have never been able to beat Roma as Viola Coach, maybe it’s because I love them so much! But joking aside, I think only on one occasion have they deserved to beat us. In other matches, we’ve always left the field thinking we should have got more.” Montella admitted in a press conference.
The Sporting Director of Fiorentina, Daniele Prade is hoping that Montella will remain in charge of the club for the years to come.
“We want Montella here for many years. He is a Coach we like, just as we like his way of thinking. We have a real identity and intensity in how we play. Fiorentina, Roma and Napoli are the teams who have played the best football this season’’.
“There is a strong rapport between Coach, club, owners, fans and the city. Our desire is to always improve. We want to get back into the Champions League as it would completely change our situation’’.
Even though Fiorentina is out of the Champions League qualification spot for the upcoming season, Montella is being highly rated and liked by the staff of the club as they confirmed the interest of extending his stay with the club.
